Obituary for Alan J. White

Alan J. White, 58, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2023.

Born in Troy and raised in Cohoes, he was the son of the late Robert and Mary O’Clair White. Al graduated from Cohoes High School where he excelled in athletics, especially baseball. He was even scouted as a pitcher by the Major Leagues. His passion for sports lasted throughout his life, and when he wasn’t playing them himself he could often be found watching his two favorite teams, the NY Yankees and the Miami Dolphins.

Al earned his bachelor’s degree from SUNY Oneonta and had been employed at Shelter Enterprises in Cohoes, the Capital District Psychiatric Center in Albany and most recently with the Dept. Of Public Works in Cohoes.

Al’s greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his kids. He would go on day-trips meeting them for lunch and especially enjoyed going to Saratoga Racetrack with them. He will be remembered as a caring man with a big heart.

Al was the loving father of Heather Guzy of Jersey City, NJ and Holly Buccheri of Oneonta and the brother of the late Lee White. He is also survived by his dear friend, Joseph Welcome of Cohoes as well as several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family Thursday, March 9th from 4-6 p.m. at the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes.

Those wishing to remember Al in a special way may make contributions to the American Heart Assoc., 4 Atrium Dr #100, Albany, NY 12205
