COHOES Albert S. Kadela, 64, of St. Agnes Highway passed away peacefully Friday,November 6, 2020 at his residence after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Stephan and Mildred Kadela.
Albert always showed an interest in sports. He starred in tennis, soccer and volleyball at Shaker High School and later at HVCC. He was commonly known by his nickname “Torch.” Torch was a unique man who’s playful spirit, deep thinking brain, attention to the subtle energy of instructing and highly sensitive soul will be felt by everyone.
He became a well-known fitness instructor and trainer in the Capital District and Glens Falls area. His passion as a personal trainer inspired and touched the lives of so many. He started his fitness career back in the early 80’s when he opened up his first studio in Albany, New York,“Torch’s Fitness Scene.” Torch was an amazing group fitness instructor and earned elite status while working alongside world class trainers from Les Mills. His motivation, encouragement and sense of humor had a positive impact on all who were fortunate to know him and be a part of his fitness journey.
Albert could be described as an outdoor enthusiast who spent many weekends with his best friend Kelly. You could find Torch and Kelly hitting the slopes in the wintertime, kayaking and paddle boarding in the summer. Torch especially enjoyed Disc Golf and played many of the courses in the capital region and beyond. Torch lived by the motto, “One way to get the most out of life is to look upon it as an adventure!”
Albert is survived by his two brothers, Anthony J. Kadela of Cohoes and Thaddeus Kadela(Tina) of Austin, TX and by his best friend, Kelly Livingston of Albany.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Waterford.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Masks will be required and social distancing regulations will be observed.
