Obituary for Andrew R. Currie

COHOES Andrew R. Currie, 71, entered into eternal rest Monday, September 27, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Cohoes, Andy was the son of the late Robert and Mary Frazier Currie. He graduated from Cohoes High School in 1969 and worked as a roofer with Local 241 in Albany for 37 years until retiring in 2005.

Andy was always an avid and lifelong NY Giants fan. He loved golf, belonged to a bowling league and enjoyed watching the American Pickers and the Pawn Stars on tv. He was also a member of the ET Ruane American Legion Post 476 in Cohoes.

On Sept. 25, 1982, Andy married the love of his life and best friend, Cheryl Cote Currie. This past Saturday, he and Cheryl celebrated their 39th anniversary together.

In addition to his beloved wife, Andy is survived by his brothers, Lawrence “Tommy” Currie of Mechanicville, Robert Currie of Delmar as well as his sisters-in- law, a brother-in-law and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, David Currie.

A memorial service will be held Friday at 7 p.m. in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes.
Relatives and friends may visit with his family from 4-7 p.m. prior to the service.

Andy’s family would especially like to thank his nurses Wendy and Kim for the exceptional care they provided during this difficult time.
