Obituary for C. Earla Bills (Cannon)
COHOES C. Earla (Cannon) Bills, 85, of McDonald Towers passed away peacefully Monday, February 6, 2023 at her home after a long illness.
Earla was a lifelong resident of Cohoes. She graduated from Keveny Memorial Academy and Albany Business College. Before taking time off to raise her family, she was employed as an executive secretary at the National Commercial Bank in Albany. After the untimely death of her husband, she worked as a librarian in both the Catholic and public-school systems, Hervieux Realty and Price Chopper all in Cohoes until her retirement.
Earla was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert J. Bills; by her parents, Earl and Catherine (Collin) Cannon and by her brother, Thomas Cannon.
Earla is survived by her three daughters and their spouses, Terrie Bills Hanaburgh (Richard) of Brant Lake, Peggy Bills Higham (Jim) of Vestal and Kay Bills Weiss (Jim) of Watervliet and by her sister, Elizabeth Doherty Powell of Waterford. Earla was the proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren and great grandmother of 17 (soon to be 20) great grandchildren.
Earla dearly loved her growing family and she will be missed.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:45 a.m. from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes and 10:30 a.m. in St. Michael’s Church, Cohoes. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Waterford.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home Friday from 4-7 p.m
