Obituary for Carolyn Casey
COHOES It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Carolyn Casey, age 88. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother who will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Carolyn was born December 24, 1933 in Cohoes and lived in Cohoes her most of her life. After a surprising diagnosis of pancreatic cancer earlier this month, she peacefully passed away at home on Friday July 29, 2022, with family by her side.
Carolyn was married to the love of her life, Harold Casey who died in 2010. Together they raised seven children—Harold, Henry, Steven, John, Frank, Jimmy and Cathleen—which later resulted in a growing family of 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Carolyn was a graduate of Cohoes High School. She had been employed by the NYS Division of Criminal Justice and retired in 2001. Prior to that she was employed by the Cohoes City School District. She was a member of the Colonie, Troy and Watervliet Senior Citizens groups. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed traveling, however, her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Harold J. Casey (Carolyn) of Brunswick, Henry E. Casey (Margaret) of Troy, John J. Casey (Rebecca) of Cohoes, Francis A. Casey (Karen) of Maine, NY, James M. Casey (Tracey) of Cohoes and Cathleen A. Casey (Meshell) of Port Schuyler.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her son Steven, her parents Charles and Alexandria Gabriel, her siblings Paul, Charles and George Gabriel, Eva Roy, Nancy Lee and Joanne Larson as well as 2 grandchildren
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 9:15 am from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes and at 10 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday from 4-7 pm.
