Obituary for Cheryl A. Currie (Cote)

COHOES Cheryl A. Currie, 66, of Mangam St. passed away unexpectedly at her residence Tuesday, January 31, 2023 after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

Born in Cohoes, she was the daughter of the late Edward Cote, Sr. and Adelaide Farrell Cote. She graduated from Lansingburgh High School in 1974. She went on to work for the Henderson Mental Health Clinic in Florida, Eddy Healthcare in Cohoes and then Freight Distribution Inc. in Latham until retiring in 2018.

Cheryl was an active member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Cohoes. Always an outgoing person, she enjoyed bowling, golfing and camping with her husband and sweetheart, Andy. She also enjoyed taking trips to the casino and racetrack as well as watching her NY Giants.

Cheryl loved to be around people and could often be found spending time with her many friends while sipping her favorite drink, a White Russian. She will be remembered for her kind heart and always putting others first.

Cheryl was the beloved wife of the late Andrew R. Currie who passed in 2021; the loving sister of Linda Kent (late Larry Anderson), Susan Carney, Robert Cote and the late, Carol Guilbeault, Edward Cote, Jr. and Michael Cote. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Clara Cote and her brothers-in-law, Henry Guilbeault, Lawrence “Tommy” Currie and Robert Currie as well as several nieces and nephews and her beloved feline friend, Tiny.

Relatives and friends may visit at the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes on Monday from 4-7 p.m. A brief prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.

A celebration of life will be held at the American Legion Post 476, 93 Oneida St. in Cohoes immediately following the service.
