Obituary for Christopher P. Smith

Cohoes Christopher P. Smith, - Christopher P. Smith, 57, of Cayuga Plaza, Cohoes passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 29th surrounded by his loving family. Born in Cohoes, he was the son of the late Arthur J. Smith and Judy (Raymond) Frazier Smith Heins. He was predeceased by his brother Carl J. Smith of Cohoes.

Chris was a lifelong resident of Cohoes and a graduate of Cohoes High School. He had been employed by Alpin Haus of Ganesvort until his early retirement. Chris was an all-around mechanic, electrician, plumber and handyman; he happily shared his knowledge and talents with his friends and family. He had a lifelong passion for boating and fishing, and some of his fondest memories were of deep-sea fishing trips with his brother and nephews. Although Chris fought heart related health issues his entire life, he never asked ‘why me’ or complained; he carried himself with a quiet strength and dignity that were an example to all who knew him.

Survivors, in addition to his mother are his sisters Carleen (Kevin) Snay of Cohoes and Connie (Ray) Coalts of Lansingburgh. Uncle of Tara, Sara, Kevin, Jenna, Rhandy, Zachary, and Lucia. He is also survived by his aunts, uncle and cousins.

A funeral service will be held in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ltd, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, January 2nd.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 4-7 pm.

Inurnment will be in St. Joseph's cemetery in Waterford at the convenience of the family.
