Obituary for Colleen S. Knapik

COHOES Colleen S. Knapik, 65, of Baker Ave. died peacefully after a short illness Monday, April 12, 2021 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn.

Born in Cohoes, Colleen was a lifelong resident. She was the daughter of the late Stephen Drobneck and Frances Murphy Jubert. She graduated from Cohoes High School and went on to work as a cashier at Price Chopper. She then became an LPN and worked as a nurse at Van Rensselaer Manor for many years until her retirement. She was also a communicant of St. Michael’s Church in Cohoes.

Colleen was very handy and could do anything she set her mind to. She loved to garden, cook, go to garage sales and drive her truck. She also always enjoyed her trips to casinos and playing the slots.

Colleen was the wife of the late Mark Knapik who passed in 2011 and the loving mother of Joshua M. Knapik of Cohoes. She is also survived by her siblings, Ronald Normandin of Bellingham, MA, Shirley Paris of Rensselaer, Patricia Normandin and Robert Jubert both of Cohoes as well as a large extended family.

Funeral services will be Monday and at 8:15 a.m. from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes and at 9 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church, Cohoes. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Waterford.

Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home Sunday from 3-6 p.m.

Masks will be required and pandemic occupancy restrictions observed.
