Obituary for David E. Wagner

CLIFTON PARK David E. Wagner, 63, died peacefully Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at the Eddy Heritage House in Troy.

Born in Cohoes, he was the son of the late George “Ted” Wagner and Margaret Morrison Wagner.

David graduated from Cohoes High School and worked for the City of Cohoes as a young man. While working for the city, he developed a passion for surveying and chose to pursue his education in the field. He went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in forestry and surveying from Paul Smith’s College and then studied civil engineering at HVCC. He was employed as a surveyor for the NYS Dept. of Transportation for over 30 years until his retirement.

David was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and cross-country skiing. He was also a history buff with an encyclopedic knowledge of places and events.

David is survived by his aunts, cousins and dear friends. Always very proud of his Scottish heritage, he is also survived by a large Scottish and American extended family.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens, Colonie.

Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home Sunday from 4-6 p.m.
