Obituary for Grace M. Fitzgerald (Charbonneau)
COHOES Grace M. Charbonneau Fitzgerald passed into the hands of God on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.
Grace was a lifelong resident of Cohoes and parishioner of the Church of the Holy Trinity. She graduated from Catholic Central High School and received her BS in Nursing from the Albany Medical Center School of Nursing. After raising her 7 children, she resumed her nursing career as a maternity nurse at Albany Medical Center where she also taught parenting classes.
Grace always enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to visit with her many friends, go out to dinner, travel and play scrabble. She was also an avid bowler, reader, knitter, gardener and bird watcher.
Grace was predeceased by her husband, Maurice “Corky” Fitzgerald; by her parents, Aime and Anna Pouliott Charbonneau; by her sister, Veronica Charbonneau; by her son, Brian Fitzgerald and by her grandson, Keith McDermott.
Grace is survived by her daughters, Cathleen (Brian) McMahon of Clifton Park, Dianne (David) McDermott of Cohoes; by her sons, Wayne (Sharon) Fitzgerald of Middleburg, FL, David (Lisa) Fitzgerald of Chandler, AZ, Lee (Pamela) Fitzgerald of Cohoes and Jon (Deb) Fitzgerald of Cohoes. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd, Cohoes and at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Holy Trinity, Cohoes. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Waterford.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home Friday from 4-6 p.m.
Masks will be required and social distancing and occupancy regulations observed.
Grace’s family would especially like to thank Dr. William Caramore for his comfort and excellent care of their Mom.
