Obituary for Joanne Peterson
COHOES Joanne Peterson, 65, entered into eternal life Sunday, November 20, 2022 at Samaritan Hospital.
Born and educated in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Anne Hadam Castle. Joanne had worked as a supervisor for ACS (Lockheed Martin) for 20 years until her retirement. Prior to that she had been employed with NYS EnCon and at Barclay’s Home Goods.
Joanne was always extremely family oriented and loved taking care of her children and grandchildren. She could often be found at her favorite ice cream spot, Snowman’s and would of course always share some with her dogs, Squirt, Bear and Copper. She enjoyed playing Bingo as well as taking trips to Turning Stone and to the beaches of Maine. She also was an avid NY Yankees fan.
Joanne is the loving wife (37 years) of Paul J. Peterson, Sr.; the beloved mother of Carrie Bennett (Jason), Kera Peterson, Paul J. Peterson, Jr. (Linda) and Joseph P. Peterson all of Cohoes; the sister of Gail Mantello (late James) of Watervliet, Marcia Plumadore (Robert) of Troy, Harvey Castle (Noelle) of Maine, Timothy Castle (Maryann) of Watervliet and the late Charisse Raymond (Leonard); and the adored grandmother of Madisyn, Aubree, Maci, Caleb and the late Kendra. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Peterson of Cohoes and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd. Cohoes with Pastor Nick TeBordo officiating. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Cohoes.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday from 4-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, 13770 Noel Road, Suite 801889, Dallas, TX 75380.
