Obituary for Karen A. Charbonneau

COHOES Karen A. Charbonneau, 72, of Berkshire Ave. entered into eternal life Saturday, November 13, 2021 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Canada, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Rosamond Flannery Charbonneau. Karen moved to this area at a young age and graduated from St. Marie’s School in Cohoes. She was a 1968 graduate of Keveny Memorial Academy and went on to work for the NYS Dept. of Taxation & Finance for many years until her retirement.

Karen’s faith always played an important role in her life, and she was a devout and active parishioner at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Waterford. She was a member of St. Mary’s Altar Society and volunteered in many roles. In her free time, she enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing Mah-Jongg.

Left to cherish her memory are her cousins, Robert and Harold Flannery, Linda Flannery Guerard, Mary Loretta Flannery Voglino, Mary Rose Bernardin Simpson, Jude Krupski McCue; her dear friends, Jeanne Gracon, Nancy Griffin Bowen (George) and family, Kathy Griffin Sniffen (Rich) and family; her forever friends for over 60 years, Sandy Kennedy Sprague, Susan Slavin Farrelly, Mildred Shaughnessy Burke and Jean Michaud Ludlum; as well as many other friends.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 8:45 a.m. from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Waterford. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Waterford.

Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-7 p.m.
