Obituary for Katherine T. "Kay" McCormack
COHOES Katherine “Kay” McCormack, 92, died peacefully March 22, 2020 at Samaritan Hospital.
Kay was born in her family’s home to Robert J. McCormack Sr. and Blanche Girard McCormack, and she has resided there all her life. She graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1946 and went on to work at The Troy District Shirt Co. from 1947-1966. She was then employed at the NYS Dept. of Taxation & Finance until her retirement in 1994.
Kay was a communicant of the Church of the Holy Trinity. She liked to swim at the Cohoes Senior Center and take trips to Florida and Ireland. She also enjoyed being outdoors, tending to her lawn and going out to eat. She will be remembered for her independent spirit.
Kay was the sister of Elizabeth Cyphers of New Jersey, Maryann Messitt of Ballston Lake, Michael P. McCormack of Cohoes and the late Robert J. McCormack, Jr. and Blanche Rogers. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and a large extended family.
A memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
