NEW YORK CITY Keith James Smith, 70, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at his residence.
A native of Cohoes, Keith was the son of the late James and Anna May (Casey) Smith. He had a wonderful childhood growing up on Walnut Street spending many days in West End Park. He attended St. Agnes's Elementary School and Keveny Memorial Academy where he was class President. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from SUNY Albany and then moved to New York City to pursue his love of theatre and dance.
Keith was always very creative, artistic and a wonderful cook. He used these and many other talents working as an event planner for both Sotheby’s and Tiffany’s in New York. Also, as an avid collector he would often incorporate his unique antiques and pottery to make his event memorable.
Keith’s special talents were only surpassed by his generosity and kindness to others and his love of our family pets, especially Duffy.
Keith is survived by his loving sisters, Mary Beth Garrison (Alfred) of Ballston Spa and Catherine Smith Vagle (Steven) of Clifton Park as well as many cherished cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held Friday, November 19th at 11 a.m. in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes with Rev. Nick TeBordo officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service.
