Obituary for Lois M. Hume (Root)

COHOES Lois M. Hume, 94, entered into eternal life Thursday, April 28, 2022 at the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center surrounded by her loving family.

Born and educated in Cohoes, Lois was a lifelong resident. She was the daughter of the late Raymond and Mary Jane Veve Root and wife of the late George W. “Red” Hume.

Lois was a homemaker for most of her life and enjoyed tremendously spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a communicant of the Church of the Holy Trinity in Cohoes. She was also a gifted artist and many of her paintings adorn the homes of her family and friends. She was a talented seamstress as well and made prom and wedding dresses for her family.

Lois excelled at whatever she set her mind to, and her wit and sense of humor will be especially missed by all who knew her.

Lois was the loving mother of Raymond J. Hume (Serafina) of Albany, Pamela J. Phelps (Charles) of Arizona, Patricia A. Grovenger (Matthew) of Cohoes, Brandie M. Wentworth (Kevin) of Bethlehem and the late Davidson T. Hume; the twin sister of Helen “Doris” Favreau of Nevada and the sister of the late Yvonne Picard. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Stephanie Cerasano (Scott), Sarah Phelps, Phillip J. Hume (Amanda), Steven J. Grovenger (Elena) Sheri A. Frueh (Michael), Krista M. Meyers (Christopher), Kelly M. Wentworth (Matthew) and Katherine M. Wentworth (Brent) as well as her adored great grandchildren, Vika, Alex, Cameron, Carter, Cadence, Benjamin, Russell, Reagan and Phillip Jr.

Lois’ family would especially like to thank the staff at the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center for their exceptional care and friendship over the past few years.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Cohoes

Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home from 9 a.m. -11 a.m. prior to the service.
