Obituary for Lourdes T. Reiniger (Smith)
COHOES Lourdes T. Reiniger, 95, peacefully entered eternal life on Friday, January 15, 2021, at the Baptist Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Scotia.
Born in Cohoes, she was the daughter of the late Alfred J. and Emma Coutu Smith; and beloved wife of the late Bernard J. Reiniger. Lourdes was raised and educated in Cohoes where she spent most of her life. She graduated from Keveny Memorial Academy, class of 1943 and Albany Business College with a degree in secretarial studies. Lourdes was employed for many years as a secretary with the former Behr-Manning and later Norton Company, where she met and eventually married her husband, Bernard in April of 1948. They were married for 49 years until Bernard's passing in October of 1997.
Lourdes was dedicated to her family and home, where she gained great pleasure from the abundant love of her family. She is survived by her loving sons, John J. Reiniger of Cohoes and Andrew P. (Geri) Reiniger of Clifton Park; grandsons, Andrew David and Matthew Paul Reiniger; great-grandchildren, Sha'Lynn, Seth and Jade and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sons, Paul and James Reiniger; siblings, Lorraine Dushane, Yvonne Hayes, William and Bernard Smith.
A funeral service will be held in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd Cohoes on Tuesday, January 19, at 11 a.m. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Waterford.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service.
Masks will be required and social distancing and occupancy regulations observed.
