Obituary for Mark Partak

NISKAYUNA Mark Partak, 72, died peacefully Tuesday, October 11, 2022 surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with Parkinson’s.

Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Metro and Stella Rymanowski Partak. He graduated from Keveny Memorial Academy in Cohoes and went on to HVCC and Russell Sage where he earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Mark worked for most of his life at the NYS Dept. of Health as a healthcare analyst. He was an avid fisherman and member of the Albany Area Bassmasters. He also enjoyed bowling, body building and horse racing. He was active in the Boy Scouts and was himself an Eagle Scout.

Mark is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Celeste Blanchard Partak; by his beloved children, Jonathan M. Partak (Melanie) of Voorheesville and Matthew S. Partak (Amanda) of Colonie; and by his sister, Martha M. Fitzgerald (late Warren) of Cohoes. He was fondly known as “Big Pop” to his adored grandchildren, Calla M. Partak, Cianna M. Partak, Julian Fillerup and Adrian Fillerup. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Teresa Alcure (Jack) and Anita Grassia (Vince) as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes and at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Holy Spirit in East Greenbush. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ft. Johnson.

Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home Monday from 4-6 p.m.
