Obituary for Martha M. Cleveland
TROY Martha M. Cleveland, 52, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 27, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Cohoes, she was the daughter of the late Mary Ann (Crandall) Jaquish. She was educated in Cohoes schools and has been employed at Price Chopper in Clifton Park for the past 21 years.
Martha was the unofficial Mayor of Cohoes who was known for her outgoing personality. She loved to stop and talk with everyone she met and help in any way she could. She will be remembered as a selfless and giving person whose door was always open to friends and family alike.
Family was paramount in Martha’s life, and she was the glue that held hers together. She was the loving mother of Shawn Batchelder (Lori) of Colonie, Steven Batchelder (Emily) of Cohoes and Brandon Cleveland of Colonie; the sister of Donald Cleveland (Michelle), Rebecca Cleveland, Mark Cleveland (Penny), Laura Cleveland, Martin Hood (Vikki), Patricia Jaquish and the late Elizabeth Cleveland. She is also survived by her lifelong companion, Darryl Gardner as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes with Pastor Nick TeBordo officiating. Interment will follow in Waterford Rural Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service.
