Obituary for Michael T. Shevchik
MECHANICVILLE Michael T. Shevchik, 97, died Monday, March 22, 2021 at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center in Albany.
Born and educated in Cohoes, Mike was the son of the late Theodore and Anna Kurylko Shevchik. He served in the U.S. Army right after WWII. Mike was predeceased by his wife, Olga Serbalik Shevchik, as well as by his five siblings. Mike retired in 1993 from GE Silicones in Waterford where he worked as a production clerk for 40 years.
Mike is survived by his daughters Michele Klara (John) of Townsend, MT and Zina Shevchik (Charles Huff) of Clifton Park; granddaughters Julia Huff of Manhattan and Rachel Huff of New Jersey, grandson Matthew Klara (Dr. Emily Bubbers) and great grandson Everett Klara of Helena, Montana. He is also survived by a large extended family.
Mike's family would like to thank the staff at Peregrine Senior Living of Clifton Park for helping make Mike's last years such good ones.
Memorial contributions can be made to the National Cemetery Association, North Atlantic District, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Mike will be interred next to his wife in the Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
