Obituary for Robert J. Bernard
HALFMOON Robert J. Bernard, 68, formerly of Cohoes entered into eternal rest Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Samaritan Hospital. Born in Cohoes, he was the son of the late Raymond Bernard and M. Joyce Craner Chard and step son of the late Frances Santspree-Hinds Bernard.
Bob graduated from Cohoes High School and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in computer science from LaSalle University. He worked as director of information technology for many years until his retirement.
Family was paramount in Bob’s life, and he will always be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Bob is survived by his loving sons, R. Jason Bernard and Adam M. Bernard; his grandchildren, Sean M. Bernard and Jaxon Sive; his siblings, the Fabulous Freddie Fargo, Joy Sawyer (Philip), Nancy Myers (Christopher), Marcey Zabawczuk (John), Sandra Murray, Donald Hinds, David Hinds (Eva), Kenneth Hinds, Terry Vanier (David) and Steven Hinds (Barbara); his former wife, Colleen Dorn as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, William Hinds.
Relatives and friends may visit at the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
