Obituary for Stanley F. Jacon

COHOES Stanley F. Jacon, 78, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 8, 2023 at his son’s home after a long illness.

Born in Cohoes, Stanley was a lifelong resident of the city. He was the son of the late John and Mary (Zdunek) Jacon and husband of Judith (Frage) Jacon who passed in 2003.

Stanley attended Cohoes schools and went on to proudly serve in the US Navy, Patrol Squadron VP-45 during the Bay of Pigs Invasion and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Returning home, he worked at W.T. LaRose’s and then at GE Silicones (now Momentive) in Waterford until retiring.

Stanley was a car enthusiast who often enjoyed taking excursions in whichever sports car he happened to have at the time. As a veteran of the Navy, he was always fascinated by sailing ships and collected models of them. He also enjoyed the simple things in life, like going to the lake and spending time with his family.

Stanley is survived by his loving sons, William Jacon (Dawn) of Day and Brian Jacon (Diana) of Selkirk and by his siblings, Ronnie Walsh (John) of Clifton Park and John Jacon (Beverly) of Corinth. He is also survived by his dear friend, Mike Leone (Barbara) as well as several nieces and nephews.

A graveside committal service will held Thursday, April 13, 2023 at 1 p.m. in the Waterford Rural Cemetery (use Davis Avenue entrance) with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to the Community Hospice Foundation, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205 (CommunityHospice.org)
