Obituary for Viola Pludrzynski (Duda)

WATERFORD Viola Pludrzynski, 95, formerly of Saratoga Ave. entered into eternal life Monday, October 3, 2022 at the Teresian House Nursing Home.

Born and educated in Poland, she was the daughter of the late Jan and Magdalena Duda. In 1943 Viola was sent to a German labor camp where she remained until the end of WWII. Later, she married her husband, John Pludrzynski and the couple immigrated to the US in 1961 settling in Cohoes where her brothers and sisters resided.

Viola worked at the Troy District Shirt Co. and was known for her talents knitting and crocheting. She made sure that all her grandchildren had her homemade blankets, hats and gloves to remember her by. She always enjoyed gardening and took great pride in her beautiful flowers and homegrown vegetables. She loved traveling and took many trips to Alaska, Poland and Florida as well as cruises. She also liked to play cards. especially her weekly pinochle games with her son John and his wife Mary.

She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church in Cohoes and a member of Ladies Rosary Society at St. Michael’s. She also belonged to PNA Lodge 1684 in Cohoes.

Viola was the beloved wife of the late John Pludrzynski; the loving mother of John A. Pludrzynski (Mary) of Slingerlands, Helen Rockefeller (Kevin) of Florida, Nancy L. Lollino (Mario) of Florida, and the late Christine Lewandusky (Robert Sr.); the sister of the late Jan Duda, Stefan Duda, Eugene Duda, Josephine Kurzynski and Sophie Musial. She is also survived by her adored grandchildren, Robert J. Lewandusky, Jr. (Krista), Andrew Pludrzynski (Jessica), Lisa M. Powers (Neale), Renee Racicot (Michael), Thomas Pludrzynski (Jess), Vincenzo J. Lollino and Chelsea A. Lollino as well as 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 8:15 a.m. from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes and at 9:00 a.m. in St. Michael’s Church, Cohoes. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Waterford.

Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday from 4-6 p.m.
