BRUNSWICK William F. Doty, Sr., 80, entered into eternal life Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Cohoes, Bill was the son of the late Harold and Mary Keefe Doty. He graduated from Keveny Memorial Academy in 1958 and went on to serve honorably in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Bill then joined the Cohoes Police Department in 1970 and worked with the police force for 33 years until retiring as a Sergeant in 2003. More recently, he had been employed as a security supervisor for Allied Universal Security Services from 2006 until 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital and then RPI in Troy.
First and foremost, Bill loved his family. He was an extremely proud Marine, and he always enjoyed his work. He never called in sick and always went to work with a smile on his face.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Dawn Carner Doty; by his children, Karen Campbell (Robert Jones) of Cohoes, Kimberly Dwyer (Keith) of Cohoes, William F. Doty, Jr. (Valarie) of Arizona, Scott Doty (Sandra) of Georgia, Katrina Panetta (Joseph) of Waterford, Jennifer Fisher (John) of Troy, Joseph Wilkinson (Lucretia) of Averill Park and Heath Doty of Troy; by his sisters, Mary Abbott (late Charles) and Dorothy Taylor (William); by his grandchildren, Christopher, Steven, Sarah, Brandon, Michael, Savannah, Skye, Joseph, Sabrina, Gabriella, Danny, Andrea, Austin, Kennedi, Mia, Jase and Hunter; by his great grandchildren, Adrian and Emma as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Rev. Harold Doty, Lillian Taylor, Shirley and Joseph Doty and Eileen Jensen and by his grandson, David Fisher.
Relatives and friends may visit with Bill’s family Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes.
Masks are required and pandemic occupancy regulations will be observed.
