Obituary for William J. Langlais III

COHOES William J. Langlais, III died suddenly Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at the Albany VA Medical Ctr.

A lifelong resident of Cohoes, Bill was the son of William J. Langlais, Jr. and the late Shirley Kinns Langlais. He graduated from Cohoes High School and went on to serve honorably in the US Navy. Returning home, he started his career at the Watervliet Arsenal where he worked for 35 years until retiring earlier this year.

Bill was an avid outdoorsman who loved spending time with his wife at their camp on Lake George. He always enjoyed bicycling, swimming and of course, winning at horseshoes. He also loved music and had an extensive music collection.

Bill was the husband of the Gail Baker Langlais who passed in 2018; the loving father of Reesa Hancock (David) of Clifton Park, Carrie Langlais of Green Island and Melissa Langlais of Troy; the grandfather of Tyler, David, Nicholas, Felisha, Daniel and Kendal; the brother of Kevin Langlais (Jean) of Cohoes, Kim Ippolito of Waterford, Ann Travers (Chip) of Clifton Park, and Tina Len (Stephen) of Cohoes. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 12 p.m. in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes. Interment will follow with military honors in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Waterford.

Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home prior to the service from 10 a.m. -12 p.m.
