Obituary for Grace A. Mastalong
Cohoes Grace A. Mastalong, - Grace A. Forant Mastalong, 79, of Diane Ct. passed away peacefully at Samaritan Hospital on Monday November 12, 2018 embraced by her loving daughter. Born in Cohoes, she was the daughter of the late Earl J. and Grace Maloney Forant and wife of Anthony Mastalong of Cohoes.
Grace was a lifelong resident of Cohoes and graduated from Catholic Central High School and also Grace Downs Airline School in Manhattan. She was account clerk at Mathew Bender and Montgomery Ward, office manager at S.S. Kresge/Jupiter/McCrory, she retired in 1992. Most recently, Grace returned to the work force and was employed for 20 years in the yarn and miniatures departments at AC Moore in Latham until 2012. Grace loved all types of crafting. She was an avid traveler; her travels took her to Greece, Ireland, Scotland, the Caribbean, Alaska, Hawaii, Nova Scotia, as well as many states in the Continental US. Grace also sailed over 15 cruises.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her beloved daughter, Erin K. Finigan of Latham and her brother, Daniel Forant of Maryland, several close cousins, Julie Carrigan, Julianne Allen and Anne Marie Farrell and friends, her adored cat and companion, Cocoa.
There will be no calling hours and services are private and at the convenience of the family.
Those wishing to remember Grace in a special way may make donations to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204, where Grace adopted her cherished Cocoa.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ltd 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes, NY 12047.
